The Portuguese Minister of Foreign Affairs, Augusto Santos Silva, made a two-day working visit to Moscow. On the 31st of May

the Minister was the guest of honor of the semestral conference organized by the Russian International Affairs Council (RIAC), by the Embassy of the country currently holding the rotating Presidency of the EU Council and by the EU Delegation in Moscow. After taking part in the Opening Session, together with his Russian counterpart, Sergei Lavrov, the two held political consultations, dedicated to bilateral issues, the relationship with EU and NATO, as well as other topics of the international agenda, including Mozambique and Venezuela. On the same day, Augusto Santos Silva had the opportunity to meet the Portuguese community in Moscow, Portuguese teachers as well as the Embassy staff.

On the 1st of June, the MFA held an open lecture to students and other members of the Diplomatic Academy and the Moscow State Institute of International Relations (MGIMO), dedicated to the main global challenges of our times. Augusto Santos Silva also visited two of the most renowned cultural institutions of the city, the Bolshoi Theater and “New Tretyakov” Gallery.
